5 Ways To Make Your Scent Stay Longer

By Pooja Kaushal

Many people apply a signature perfume that becomes a part of their personality. The same smell coming from some other source will immediately take you back to that particular person. Such is the power of a perfume. Would you too not like to smell so good? And would it not be great if that lingering fragrance stays with you all day long?

WAYS TO LOOK FRESH AFTER WORK
Yes, you heard it right. It is possible to make scent stay for long. There may have been occasions when you stepped out of the house in the morning feeling all fresh and fragrant. But by noon, there would be no sign of the perfume. You would be lucky if your body odour does not embarrass you. This happens because you do not apply your perfume properly.

5 Ways To Make Your Scent Stay Longer

In order to make scent stay for long, there are some simple tricks to follow. They are so simple that you might wonder, “why did I not think about it?”

So let us not waste any more time and discuss how to make scent stay with you for a long time. Get ready to have adorers following your scent.

Spray before your dress: Out of habit we first dress up, adorn all accessories, do our hair and then last of all spray the perfume. Try changing the order of dressing up. Spray your perfume on the right spots before you dress up. This will ensure that all the sprayed perfume hits your skin and stays on you rather than being absorbed by your dress. It is the warmth of the body that releases the perfume into the air.

Choose hot spots: Did you know that to make scent stay for long, you should spray in the ‘right’ spots? Warm areas in the body stimulate the perfume making it linger on you for a longer period. These are the pulse areas such as the wrist, behind the ear, neck, behind the knee and upper fold of the elbow. Also, if you spray perfume to freshly washed hair, it can stay with you for more than a day.

Moisturise skin:
If you have oily skin, there is one reason to be happy about it – perfume tends to stay longer on oily skin. If you do not have oily skin, fret not. Make sure to moisturise yourself well before you spray the fragrance. You can also try perfumes that come as a lotion. Coat with the lotion and spray the liquid for lasting effects.

Spray not rub: Many of us make the mistake of spraying the perfume and then rubbing it well. It is almost like rubbing it into the skin. The reason people give is that they intend to rub and give warmth to the perfume for extra effectiveness. Shun the behaviour if you too are one of them. By rubbing, you are doing more harm than good. Rubbing breaks down the perfume molecules and they escape into the air at a faster rate.

Six inch rule:
Did you ever read the instructions listed on a perfume bottle? Always spray from a distance of six inches. This ensures even spraying on the body with minimum loss in between.
